This is not really a ski jump, rather someone jumping off a cliff while wearing skis and landing in deep snow. His landing position is strange, he rotates over so he virtually lands upside down on his head, party on his back - I cannot imagine that was the planned position!!.

I can't believe how many stupid comments there are.. lets clear a few things up. 1. the man is, was, and will be a skiing legend. 2. wearing a helmet when dropping a 250 foot cliff? really? if you think that wearing a helmet is going to help you if you hit a rock or something falling from that high then you should probably be wearing a helmet on the daily. 3. landing on his head was intended, skis have a much bigger surface area than your head does. it's like the difference between diving in water head first or feet first vs belly flopping. which one is more pleasant? landing on his skis would have created a more violent landing. 4. how is he supposed to make it more of a jump? it was not just a fall he definitely jumped the cliff, its not like he had much room to make a run in or could have a snowmobile pull him into it. To say this isn't extreme is ignorant..
